Pretty Little Shoulder Straps;

Embellished Cami Top - Miss Selfridge

So it's not often I'm not wearing black, as I have to wear it every day to work. It's not that I don't like wearing black, it's that after a while you forget how to wear colours even though you're merchandising colours and trends for your job! My recent weekend outfits have been very simple and not really blog-post worthy, but I whilst visiting Cambridge I wore my new Miss Selfridge top and completely forgot to take any outfit photos, so I took some snippets of the top because I think it's so pretty! No face - I looked a state because I was a little ill!

I love this top and think it's a worthy investment, which I don't often make! As it's a versatile piece that can be dressed up or dressed down, and with monochrome key this season I can work this with loads of my black pieces adding a colour pop with a necklace or some lovely shoes. This time I wore it with my thick black leggings and a blazer to look casual but ready for business. I can imagine myself wearing this more with jeans and a pop colour blazer (that I need to invest in!) for a casual look or with a skater tucked in for more of a dressy girly look.

I usually go for something that isn't so simple, or dressy. But I really liked it, and the quality is lovely! I love wearing white too, and although I was hesitant about it at first because I thought it wasn't really me, I think the ways I said I would wear it seem more than a good enough reason to buy it! I think I've finally got my head around how investments work. I also haven't got anything nice and simple like this that I can wear with so much, so hopefully this is the start of a few more simple pieces to go with my statement ones ;)

I also can't wait until it warms up a little bit so I can show off these embellished straps a little better!
What can't you wait to show off?

Where Cat Went: Cambridge

As mentioned in a few previous posts, I recently took a trip up to Cambridge for work. I went to do a little Brand Specialist training at their local Miss Selfridge, where I learnt quite a lot! And I thought that whilst I was up there and I'd done all I my training, I deserved to explore a little!
After I had finished my days work I headed off for lunch at the first place that made me go "ooh!", so West Cornwall Pasty it was. I had possibly sat there eating my food, drinking tea and working through all the notes for my days work for about an hour and a half. No lies! And once I felt I'd really done my days work, I set off to enjoy Cambridge.
It's so beautiful, tranquil and is filled with so many amazing shops that I couldn't decide where to go. My favourites being Cath Kidston, The Fudge Kitchen, Blobb, Lush, and Office!
I took a few photos to share and show off, so I thought I'd blog them too. I do plan on visiting again  because it was so nice and full of things to see and do! But I don't think I would have realised how nice it was if I didn't have to go there for work purposes, but I'm so glad I did :)

It reminded me a bit of Amsterdam with all the bikes...
Is there anywhere else that's pretty with lots to do you'd recommend to visit in Britain?

Feb: 18 - 24

This Week: I watched Penguins - Spy In The Huddle (WHO is watching that tomorrow!? I AM!!!), went to Cambridge and ate an amazing pasty lunch! I saw Panda things I nearly bought all of, bought a face mask and wore penguin socks. Admired my orchids, went on a Sunday date with the boyfriend and drew on myself.

This week I took a trip to Cambridge for some Miss Selfridge Brand Specialist Training and ended up exploring a little bit! I found Cambridge to be full of beautiful architecture as well as amazing shops, like the Fudge Kitchen (where they hand make fudge in front of you!), Cath Kidston, MAC, and all the other usual suspects in one place! There was one I absolutely loved full of amazing stationary called Blobb. Still don't know why I didn't buy anything! I'll be blogging a few photos from my trip!

I haven't done much else this week, but I did have a lovely day with my boyfriend today. We were supposed to go out somewhere special together, but with the weather being so cold it was impossible to stay outside for more than 5 minutes and we couldn't think of anything else we could do! So we drove a tour of Hertfordshire instead. I think when the weather is a lot warmer we will do a lot more, but in these cold icy months I think staying in watching crap TV, playing PS3 and drinking tea is more suited for us!

I am REALLY hoping to get back into blogging a little better from this week. I've got lots of blogging ideas floating around at the moment, and I'm trying to get motivated into making my posts a little more beauty/fashion related with a few lifestyle posts on the side! At the moment it feels like lifestyle posts are all I have. I'm really weird about taking outfit photos because I feel weird taking them and don't have a place or the right lighting to take them! (I also have to invest in a tri-pod.) It's also the same issue with beauty photos... But I'm determined to get better at blogging!

If there's anything you'd like to see more of on What Cat Says please let me know! :)

Wishlist #13

Hey gals! A bit late, but it's here! I love doing my wishlist posts! Really gets together what I'm loving recently. Sometimes there's a pattern, and sometimes there isn't... This week there isn't! And this is more me... I'm a here, there and everywhere type of gal. I did just text my boyfriend about my short attention span and I think that along with the love for pretty things results in a wishlist looking a little un-organised like this... But I still love it!

Speckled Mini Dress - I think the thing about this dress is that I love the style. It's a casual t-shirt dress shape, and I haven't got a casual dress at all.. I'm not an all out casual dresser... more of an "all out or feel weird and under-dressed when casually dressed" dresser. But I can imagine jazzing this up with a belt and some funky shoes! The colour alone I think fixes this for me, because I'm a bright one with clothes. I did just buy a neon yellow jumper...
Rosie Black Cut Out Wedge - "WOW", is all I can say about these shoes. Talk about "walking on air"!? I'd feel like that Greek messenger wearing these... And at such a great price. Investment maybe!?!?
Cherubic Nail Polish - I've only recently seen the likes of custom made nail polishes and home-made ones, but some of the creations are to die for! I love this one in particular! It's just super cute and the colours just work! I want it :) Search them up on Etsy!
Swizzle (Panda) Earrings - I think I've gone a bit panda mad since it is only 2 and a half weeks until I fly off to Scotland for a few days and visit the big bamboo eating cuties at Edinburgh Zoo! These would fit the occasion perfectly, and they're not too obvious... ;)
Lassie Ankle Strap Platforms - These are just such a great colour and shape! I love these and I think they're definitely my summer shoes! I haven't bought a pair of Topshop shoes but I'm hoping if I get to invest in a pair it'll be these and I'll love them! Do you recommend Topshop footwear?
Carefree Floral Print Light Knit -  I found this on eBay a few weeks ago and whilst clearing out my bookmarks found it again! I love it and though another casual piece... This is the sort of casual I'd go for since the colour and the style is a little more me!
So I'm into my pastels and also my neons at the moment.
What's your colour palette?

What's In Cat's Bag?

I've been on the edge of doing one of these posts for MONTHS. And finally I have got up off my lazy bottom and finally taken the pictures for the post! I think it helps that I sorted through my bag earlier, and I also haven't shown off my pretty Warehouse bag my boyfriend gave me for Christmas! He knew I wanted it bad the lovely boy ;)

So this is my pretty bag! It's still available at Warehouse today, and it also comes in a tan colour, but it was love at first sight with the rock-chick black bucket-styled bag. I love it because it's a simple statement with it's circle studded detailing on the bottom, and it's big tassel swinging from the handles. It has a flat bottom too so it doesn't fall over every 5 seconds, and it's size is deceiving as it is a whole lot bigger than you think! I end up filling it with all sorts of rubbish, but it has NEVER reached the top!

First, of course: my essentials. Those things you say when people ask you: "What's the 5 things you CANNOT leave the house without"? Well these are mine: My purse, keys to my Peugeot 206, my work lanyard, glasses (that I never wear), pen and iPhone! I bought this purse from New Look and found it cute at the time but I kind of want something neon now like THIS. I won't show you what's inside because that's like evading personal space... Anyways! I never wear my glasses but I always have them on me. I'm terrible with that because I need them for reading and concentration, and most everyday tasks involve that. Also, CANNOT live without having my iPhone on me, even if the battery is dead... It's a security thing I guess... But I currently have a doodle case on it I've instagrammed a few times. It's currently got a attempted panda on it. And I'd like to share a little tip with you: always carry a pen, because you never know when you might need one... And I often need one!

After my essentials I have my book types. I always carry the latest issue of Company which is probably the only magazine I actually READ; My diary I bought early February and updated as if I'd been using longer... I was never really a diary person but I helps give hope of organisation... because I have a huge inability to be organised. And also my newest addition. A moleskin sketch book... I find myself having waves of creativity where I want to draw and then I don't want to, so I keep this in my bag just in case I have that sort of moment. I've also shared with you my most favourite piece I've done in it.

Lastly I have my make-up and beauty products! I don't carry much with me because I'm terrible at fixing up my make-up mid way through the day... But here's a sneaky peak as to what I do carry! I've got my newest addition: Lush colour supplement in Light Yellow, which I'm finding to be surprisingly great! I love it and matches my skin colour perfectly! And I never find a foundation colour that does that... I also have Charles Worthington 'On The Go' hair serum for when my hair's gone a bit everywhere, and a comb because I dislike brushing and this works better with my unruly hair! I also love carrying my Simple hand cream because it's been the saviour of dry hands these last icy months.

I feel like I've written a lot about so little in my bag!
But I hope you enjoy my post, and link me up to your posts or videos if you've done one too.

Beauty Sleep,

Recently I've been suffering from over-exhaustion. Over working myself not only at work, but at home too. I haven't had any time to call my own, because I've been too busy trying to get everything done and working myself up about it. I'm always on the go, even when I'm trying to relax, it feels like the cogs in my head are still working! And it's come to the point that I not only feel tired and worn out all the time, but I LOOK it too, which is awful. And I REALLY really don't want to look that way.
source: weheartit.com

I've come to the conclusion that I don't sleep enough. And I need more sleep! I keep myself awake not doing, thinking and procrastinating. And then I've wasted another day avoiding tasks because I'm too tired and attempting to relax, when I should be completing those tasks to THEN relax. It's a vicious cycle.
So what should I do to get rid of my horrid dark circles, tired skin and wake up a little more? Forget the caffeine to keep you awake throughout the day, the eye brighteners and the caffeine roll ons to keep you looking healthier. I've recently read up on beauty sleep and it's been proven to be an actual thing! Those 8 hours a night mythical beauty sleep will do what all these things do all at once.
Sleep should be the obvious answer to this problem, but when you've got so much on your mind, sleep is the last thing on it. Taking a few minutes to think about this, and also being told I didn't look too great, that I should take it easy and get a little more sleep helped make me realise that I need to action this. And how much my lack of sleep and overworking was affecting me.

So I'm going to test this theory, along with a few pre-sleep activities to see if a little 8 hours a night. (Minimum) beauty sleep can do me any good. Going to bed earlier, natural tired skin face masks, a cup of tea with half my normal sugars, and hot baths. Of course a good nights sleep and a few relaxants aren't going to do it all for me. I'm going to have to take it easier in general, balance out work and play, over think less, and rationalise what I should and shouldn't be worrying about. Hopefully, all I'm good time I can get rid of this horrible tired look I have going on, and work towards my goal to brighten up my skin, be, and look a lot healthier without the help of make-up! And then I can get back to being happy Cat!
Roll on those 8 hours beauty sleep!
Have you got any tips or thoughts to share about beauty sleep and how to relax better?
Leave them in the comments below or tweet me!

P.S. Also on a non-directly-related note, I feel this is also the reason for my lack of motivation and effort into blogging. I love blogging, and I do it for fun, it;s just I'm finding it difficult to find the time to do it and when I'm doing it, I feel like I'm doing it badly. So I apologise for my lack of posts of general interest and my lack of creativity.

Yankee Candle - Pink Dragon Fruit

A few weeks ago whilst window shopping I came across one of my local card shop that sell Yankee Candles. I didn't realise until I walked into the shop and smelt a beautiful mix of scents lingering from the back of the store. I saw the huge selection of pretty candles in all scents and sizes from wax melts, tea light packs and tumbler sized candles... So I bought one.

Yankee Candle - Pink Dragon Fruit
I couldn't help myself. This was just before Valentine's Day and I only went to buy a card a few chocolates for my boyfriend's Valentine's present... But I couldn't help treat myself to a Sampler Votive sized candle to try out for myself. Naughty, naughty. I've definitely got into candles more recently, and beautiful scents lingering in my room and the sight of a burning peaceful candle definitely relaxes me after a long day at work, or even on a lazy day.
I knew instantly that I had to this one in particular, as it was the most unique and beautiful scent I think I've ever smelt. And the only one that caught my full attention. It's very fruity and sweet at the same time. I don't know how it compares to a real dragon fruit because I've never tasted one but it definitely makes me want to, because it smells so good! I didn't burn it for really long because I want to make this last a little longer, but I've read this tiny sized candle can burn up to 15 hours! I am thinking of repurchasing it when it runs out in a bigger size, because it's not often I find a candle scent that burns so well, and smells so, so good you can't get enough of it. Well, I can't!
Have you tried Yankee Candles?
Which is your favourite?

Feb: 11 - 17 - ♥

This Week: I wore some different make-up, wrote in my Listography book, wore a neon necklace & magnetic nail polish, had a non-uniform day, wore a cute outfit, got an amazing valentine's present, decorated my brother's birthday cake, cute a fringe in and wore my new Thomas Sabo bracelet!

This week has been completely jam packed full of work and so much going on, especially this weekend! I spent the weekend with my little brother for his birthday, and was happy to see he liked his race track number 8 cake, saw a friend for dinner and had a lazy day in with my boyfriend!

As well as that, ofcourse it was Valentine's Day on Thursday! I had such a lovely evening, unfortunately spent the day at work but it wasn't too bad. I went and saw the new Die Hard, gave gifts and had a cheeky fast food dinner! I also happily went with my boyfriend today to change my bracelet for a bigger one because I have massive wrists apparently! This one fits like a charm and I just can't stop looking at it! I wasn't a bracelet person until now, as I've never felt natural wearing one and this one does. Weird how that works out right? But I love it, and now I can start collecting pretty charms for it on lovely occasions!

As well as that, I've just been busy seeing people and organising things for this week. I have exciting things happening this week. I'm off to Cambridge to tick off some training activity off my list of things to do, and I think Cambridge is a pretty looking place so I'm quite excited to go! And I get to see a different Miss Selfridge store too! As well as that, I have pay day to look forward to! This saving money is turning out to be quite a difficult one to do! I am determined to be good at it though!

Have you got anything exciting going on this week?

Wishlist #12

I haven't got much on my wishlist this week. In fact I haven't got much going on wishlist wise in a while. I've been so busy with other stuff, I haven't window shopped for ages! I guess this is a good thing, and I do need to get a saving at the moment! But here's what I'm after right now!

Cream Embellished Cami Top - Does it count if I've already bought this to put it on my wishlist? Well I have, I bought this beauty for a training day to a solo Miss Selfridge store. I wanted something that was simple, pretty, super-versatile and on trend. I'm thinking of wearing this with black jeans and a blazer for the monochrome look. I'd love a pair of bright boots to finish the look. Neon please!
Purple Button Up Belted Mini Skirt - I love this colour and I also have a new found love for River Island's beautiful and dead-cheap skirts! This style suits me as I have the duck print skirt in this style, and I wear it all the time. I need brighter skirts to go with my duller tops! I think this is more pink than purple though... Don't you?
Endagered Boots - OH MY GOD. I couldn't believe it when I saw these... I went on the irregular choice website to pick out the Miaow boots I thought would be on my wishlist as I've been looking at them in the scuch window recently. AND I FOUND THESE. I'm so so so gutted they aren't available in my size... Please. If someone finds them in a UK size 7, CONTACT ME! I need these in my life!
Lips in Macaroon - I am a little obsessing over pink recently and I realised I haven't a baby pink lipstick yet and I love the colour! I also haven't got any Topshop make up, though I keep meaning to buy some. I saw this colour and I love it!
MAC Powder Blush in Well Dresses - I've also been using an unbranded pink blusher from a set of make-up someone gave me for Christmas and I love the pink shade against my olive skin, so I'd love to buy a decent pink blusher like this MAC one. I think I need to see what all the fuss about MAC is about!

What's your favourite make-up brand?

Valentine's Gifts ♥

Orchid bouquet, chocolates and a pretty charm bracelet. I was definitely spoilt this year for Valentine's Day when my boyfriend gave me these lovely gifts. The thing with my boyfriend is, that he does things I don't expect. Which is why I LOVED this orchid bouquet. Absolutely beautiful! He also bought me chocolates... Because if there is anything you have to get from your loved one on Valentine's Day, it's the cheeky chocolates!

He also gave me the most beautiful Thomas Sabo charm bracelet! It's so pretty and has the cutest heart 'love' charm. Unfortunately it is too small for my "man" wrists so we're going to change it for a bigger one this weekend. But I can't stop looking at it, I love it so much!

We also spent our Valentine's evening going to the cinema to watch A Good Day To Die Hard (which I might add was a great film but not the best of the five) and eating fast food. I loved that we did something we'd do on any other evening out together, because even though it wasn't different, it felt different and more romantic, just because it was V. Day. It was perfect, we didn't need the expensive posh meal or the violinist playing music for us, and the grand gestures of love, we just needed each others company. That's enough to show true love. And if we had our own place? I'd insist on Chinese takeaway and films or rubbish TV at home  than anything else. (But I wouldn't mind the romantic gestures once in a blue moon!)

Did you do anything for valentine's day?
