Wishlist #51 - New Year, New Style, New Me

I planned to do this post for my 52nd wishlist to celebrate a year of wishlisting, but I couldn't wait to show off all the new colours and things that I am loving for the launch of Spring/Summer 2014! And my, my, isn't it looking amazing? Pastels, monochrome prints from dogtooth to aztecs, gingham, PU and florals. I love it all, and this is probably my ultimate wishlist for this year already... And it's only just the end of January!

I picked most of these things to wishlist from GlamorousMissguidedMiss Selfridge and Topshop, just because I love the trends these brands are styling at the moment, and I dangerously could have found a lot more than I would have liked too with all their amazing new product. What are you doing to me fashion world!?
This year I want to define my style. I've noticed a pattern in the things that I like and the things that I look at, and this year my aim is to shop aware, and only buy if I really think it would fit in my wardrobe well, and with versatility. And though I am a prints girl at heart, I'm now looking for simplicity with a statement. I want that PU Skort with the monochrome jumper layered on top. I want the lilac bodycon dress with a gilet thrown over and a pair of chunk white boots. I want a bag that will go with everything, but will be a statement all on it's own. I want cute as a button ponytails with those scrunchies, and I want to smell like the woman who came into my work today, which I asked what it was she was wearing.
A wardrobe re-vamp is more than needed, and I dare to say it's never been done (I think). There are more than a few pieces that I think I need to say goodbye to, but my problem is that I hate getting rid of things. I'm hoping I can turn some of it into some more shopping money with an eBay spree or a blog sale. I keep saying this, but it's about time I do.
Recently I've been attempting to get everything in my life into order. I've organised a financial plan, I'm fixing long awaiting things like my car, I'm finally happy with my blog, and the list of things to do is very long. But I do all this to help me gain more control and organisation in my life. And being happy with my wardrobe is also a part of it, because I want to be happy with my style and how I look in my journey to becoming a happier more confident and organised woman! And I'm actually getting there this time. :)

Now all I need is for someone to buy me all that up there! Any offers!? *hehe*

Marc Jacobs Honey

I'm a very fussy girl when it comes to perfumes. I like very unique fragrances, preferably sweet and floral scents more than anything. So when Marc Jacob's released Honey, I knew it was a scent I was going to love, and immediately it was on my wishlist! So when Christmas came along and I got to unwrap this from John, I was a very happy Cat! He also went all out and bought me the gift set that came with the lotion and the shower gel. The bottle is just a dream to look at too with the typical Marc Jacobs style, covered in cute white polka dots and a couple of bumble bees for themes sake. Bee-utiful!

Marc Jacobs Honey is a warm, fruity and fresh fragrance combining honeysuckle, orange, peach, mandarin, vanilla and woody tones. I was slightly confused that there wasn't a stronger honey tone as expected, but with a fruity and quiet floral fragrance, it makes sense as to why it is called 'Honey' in the first place, reminding me of the first days of spring. As time goes by the sweet scents mellow and the honeysuckle, peach and vanilla tones dominate. It's not as sickly and heavy as you'd expect with a name like 'Honey' either, so it's not a fragrance you can expect to be overwhelmed with. The scent also lasts a good few hours before needing another spritz to keep the fragrance going.
Fresh, sunny and bright, this fragrance is definitely the one to wear throughout spring for me. It's unique scent has easily made Honey become one of my favourite perfumes to date. I haven't tried any of the other Marc Jacobs perfumes, but I would love to. I'd love to know which one my readers would recommend too, so let me know which one should be next on my wishlist!

What do you think of Marc Jacobs Honey?

Hello, whatcatsays.co.uk!

Today is a happy day for me and my little space on the internet with our first full day under my new URL!
I've wanted to buy my own blog domain for a very long time, and I remember wanting one since this blog was Something Said back in the day! And yesterday I decided it was about time that whatcatsays.blogspot.co.uk switched to just whatcatsays.co.uk!

My blog is not very big in the fashion and/or beauty blogging community, but it's as much a part of it as everyone else who blogs is. I always saw having your own domain as a popular blog thing to do, but I came to realise that it's not really, and anyone can have one. Even the starter uppers! And so I thought it was about time I bought whatcatsays.co.uk and make my blog feel a little more special to me. There's something about having your own domain that makes you feel super special and unique, like your blog has an official place on the internet, if you know what I mean.
I honestly am really excited about this, and I feel like this is a new chapter for me and my blog. With a fresh new layout that I am finally 110%  happy with and a new attitude towards my little space on the internet, my blog domain just finishes it off like a cherry on top! Welcome to my new blog!

Sleek i-Divine Matte Ultra Brights Palette

Since buying the Sleek i-Divine Vintage Romance palette and falling for the beautiful colours and amazing pigmentation, I was pretty sure I'd love all the other palettes. A love of bright colours and finding out that my local Tesco stocks Sleek after a store beauty counter re-vamp (It's amazing btw), I ended up buying the Sleek i-Divine Matte Ultra Brights Palette.

Colours from L-R:
Chill, Pout, Sugarlite, Dragonfly, Pucker, Bammi
Cricket, Bolt, Strike, Floss, Crete, Powi

At first sight the colours are super bright, almost neon. I was instantly excited about the palette and with a few swatches from the tester I was convinced it was the palette for me.
I've been using this palette for a couple of weeks now, and I've grown a love for some of the colours, and a feeling of disappointment for some of the others. I was really excited about the lighter rarer colours like the white, grey and light pink. These were the colours I thought I'd be using a lot more than the rest, but it seems I mainly use the white, hotter pinks and bright greens. These colours are very nicely pigmented as I expected, and give a lovely opaque colour. But the others seem more sheer and harder to build the colour with. The light pink hardly shows, and even with the white as a base it's almost impossible to work with. The same goes for the grey, and the blues are in between, as a few layers does it some justice. As for the orange and the yellow, they work best with the white as a base.

In my opinion, the reason the colours aren't as opaque as I'd like is because they're all matte colours. I found the shimmery colours from the Vintage Romance palette were really opaque and pigmented whereas the matte ones weren't as much, but I didn't notice as much when I favoured the shimmery colours and used them more often.

I'm not completely disappointed with the palette as I've created a couple of really nice looks that I've got some nice compliments with, but I can't help but feel some disappointment in the colours that I expected more from. Today I'm wearing this look to match my daisy dress!
I love the Sleek range and I'd hate to knock it, but if you asked me about this palette I wouldn't recommend it. I myself wish I'd swatched all the colours before buying, but I made the mistake of not doing so. And although I haven't had the greatest experience with this palette it's not stopping me from thinking about my next palette! I'm really interested in the new Garden of Eden palette, Bad Girl and Sunset palette.

Have you got any of the Sleek i-Divine palettes? Which one is your favourite?

OH! I also just recently bought the BH Cosmetics 120 Color 2nd Edition Palette with some money I got for Christmas to spend on Amazon. I can't wait to get it and try it when it's got every colour you could want! I'm hoping this to be my best eye make up investment yet! Would you like to see this in a blog post at some point!?

The Blogger Made Me Buy It Tag!

So Daniella who blogs at Famous In Japan told me about this new tag on Twitter this evening! I was really intrigued, of course because I hadn't seen it before and also because I knew it would make me think about all the things bloggers could have influenced me to buy! It's an interesting one and I think you should read on and maybe do the tag yourself! What do you say?

1. Who are your most influential bloggers?
I think I'm mostly influenced by the usual suspects. When it comes to beauty, it's definitely towards The Sunday Girl, I love that she's pretty much reviewed everything and I always find her reviews spot on! Otherwise you'll see me looking at what Lily Melrose thinks!
Lily Melrose again, I find to be more of a fashion influence than a beauty one. I love her style and how she styles the same thing in so many ways! I also like the girls that write: Little Winter, The Briar Rose, Amy Valentine and That's So Yesterday. I love little bits of everyone's style and I take influence from these girls the most!

2. Do you buy products solely as the result from one review from your favourite bloggers, or do you look for more reviews from other bloggers?
I don't ever go for products based on one persons review. And this is because products work different on different people, so no two reviews will be the same. If the majority of  reviews are similar, I'll decide based on the round up of all those reviews or the ones that are closer to my skin type or what suits me best. More reviews = better decision making! :)

3. What is your most favourite item that you have bought as a consequence of blogs?
Only one item popped into my head when I thought of this and this is the Estee Lauder, Bronze Goddess Perfume. I bought this solely because Lily Melrose had raved about it for so long, that I wanted to try it myself and after smelling it I had to have it. I'd never seen anyone else rave about it, so I bought it solely because of her and is now my favourite scent that I own!

4. What is your least favourite item that you have bought as a consequence of blogs?
I once bought the MUA Pro-Base Complextion Kit based on a review and I have to say I was really disappointed in it. I kept it a little longer so that I could try it, just in case and not long ago, I threw it away because I barely used it and didn't like it.

5. Name 5 products you have bought recently as a result of blogs.
I don't often buy products because of blogs, but I do become influenced by similar or related posts to buy certain brands or into a certain style. When it comes to fashion, because I work in the fashion industry myself I sort-of subconsciously work my style and likes around trends and best sellers! It becomes obvious later on...
I bought the tartan smock dress most recently from Topshop based on the smock dress hype that is widely loved by the blogosphere. I ended up buying a felt black bowler hat because of  the same reason, as well as the eBay white skort that I hunted down after seeing a blogger wearing it and raving about it.
Beauty wise, I always wanted to try Sleek palettes and after reading a few reviews on them, and then I ended up buying two! I also wanted the Marc Jacobs Honey because of a blogger wide love, and eventually got this one for Christmas... Cheeky.

6. Have you ever given in to blogger hype? If so, which hype?
I gave into the skort hype pretty quickly! It was love at first sight with this since I have issues with skirts and shortness. I love my white skort and I wish I had more to wear with it... Maybe in fact have it in a different colour or two? It's still a favourite piece although it's very summery, but skorts are still making their way round the high streets now so I'm glad they're still in trend!
I also fell into the ombre hair thing last year and was one of the many bloggers who suddenly went for the big chop at the beginning of the month. I'd done mine in December though, so I can happily say I was one of the first to do so!

7. Have you ever avoided blogger hype? If so, which hype?
I widely avoided the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette hype as much as I could and this is only because I wanted to be a part of it so so badly! I still really want the beautiful palette, but I don't think I can justify spending £35 or more on it... Maybe later on as a big treat?

8. Is everything you buy based on blogger reviews, or are there some items you buy without checking a review?
I try to be as original as possible when it comes to my clothes. I take inspiration instead of copying and then incorporate it into my own style for a look that's got my name all over it!
As for beauty products, I like to read before I buy. Mostly with higher end products that cost a little bit more, are a higher end brand or things like foundation and concealers. Reviews matter with these things because you'll want the most for your money. But if I see something I like the look of or it's brand new sometimes I can't resist and I take the risk. It also depends on if I've eyed it up before hand or not!

I loved writing this tag! It's really made me think about the way I shop and how bloggers can affects what I buy! I prefer blogger reviews to reviews on the products itself or forum websites because it's other girls like me and you writing about products that we want to talk about and care about sharing with our beauty loving community. And I'd love to say 99.9% of the time it's the most honest opinion you can get. You never know if your review may help someone make a decision, or influence a purchase! Strange how it works isn't it?

Boohoo #FeatureAFriend

Recently Boohoo.com contacted me about their newest blogger competition. The brief was to create a post about you and your best friend with great fashion sense and style. I was really excited about this competition because it's different to most of the other competitions I've entered before, so it was no doubt I'd be entering; Especially with such a great prize to win!

I have one person in the world who brings out the best of me, and who makes me happy every single day since our first date back in December 2010. This one person is not only my boyfriend, but my best friend John.

At our last holiday in our caravan at St Margaret's Bay, Kent. Being silly and loving every minute together!

I never thought an old school aquaintance would soon be my partner in crime as well as the person I am head over heels in love with.
John and I have done more in three years than I have in my 21 years before we became a pair, and it's the same both ways. John had never been a fan of travelling OUT of the country and I wasn't a fan of travelling IN the country. And after a couple of chats about the places we'd been before, and places we wanted to go, we found a shared love for travel, and opened each other's eyes to all the things we could do in the UK and abroad.
Since we got together 3 years ago, we've been to 5 different countries, and been on about 10 different holiday breaks in and out of England. We've seen Pandas, met Penguins, saw Turtles in the wild, walked along the most beautiful beaches, quad biked the length of half of Zakynthos, and so much more. The thing is, is that there is still so much more we want to do, like travel America, visit Brazil, explore China and take lots of mini city breaks in Eastern Europe.

Our best adventure yet is most probably Edinburgh, and I'm sure he'd agree. His silly girlfriend might have let us get on the wrong train, leading us to walk a good few miles back to our hotel! A little bit of banter and we were both creasing up with laughter on our long but lovely walk back! We also visited the local zoo too and I finally got a glimpse of my most favourite animal, The Giant Panda. We also took a trip up to Edinburgh castle to enjoy the local history and a walk through the old town, and it just completed it all for for a relaxing city break.

And this is why I think we deserve to win the £75 voucher. Being best friends as well as a couple, we never get bored of each other and love adventuring and sharing new experiences together! And with travelling, we like to do it in style! John has a great sense of style and has even got into wearing jumpers with his polo collars sticking out, which looks great on him! And when it comes to fashion related gifts, he's got great choice and never ceases to amaze me when he gets me something that's me all over!
Everyone buys a wardrobe of new clothes every season, and we're no exception. Me and John go on so many adventures, and winning the voucher means we still get our new seasonal wardrobe to take on our travels, and then spend what we'd save instead on going somewhere new from our list of places to go! We're thinking a small city break and a trip somewhere in Britain this year since we're now saving up together. We haven't decided but I'm sure we'll have a great time no matter where we go. Maybe Amsterdam.... Thoughts?

You can enter the competition too! Just blog about you and your best friend and use the hashtag #featureafriend!

My December - Overdue...

This post is completely overdue, and by almost two thirds of the month; And once I'd realised I hadn't done my monthly post for December, I felt like I'd missed the part where you conclude the end of the year, so this had to be done.
A lot happened and of course most of it was Christmas prep, Christmas, New Year and parties. I also had my birthday and a new arrival of little pup Dodger into the other half's family. I won't write much more about it as I rounded up the main events in my Christmas and Birthday presents posts, but I put together a grouping of images that made December 2013 from my Instagram. So without further delay, my monthly round-up for December 2013, in pictures...

What Cat Wore: Just Sparkly & Peachy

Sequin Crop Jumper - Topshop
Joni Jeans - Topshop
Boots - Dorothy Perkins
Hat - Primark
Coat - Jane Norman (Birthday Present)

The Topshop Sale is always my weakness, being the mother of all sales, and I thought it was time to wear my new sequin crop jumper that I bought, along with my newest favourite jeans.
The short sleeves on my jumper, is just so perfect for the spring and summer as well as being in the prettiest colour. This was definitely a worthy purchase, as I can see myself wearing this all year round! I can also say it's quite durable. I expected some sequins to fall off after the first wear but nothing happened to it, even after cheeky pup Dodger got a hold of it with his puppy teeth!
My jeans though... they feel soooo amazing on; Like second skin! When I bought them and honestly expected to be returning them, but they were a perfect fit and I'd love to buy another pair... It would have to be in the sale again though, as I find it still too painful to be forking out almost £40 for a pair of jeans even if I do have 25% staff discount.
I also want to mention my new coat, just seen in the middle picture! It is probably the best coat ever. I love the print and I love the fit. I was always missing a pretty smart/casual coat in my wardrobe and now I have one thanks to my fashion-foward boyfriend. ;) He picks well doesn't he!?

A Chop & Change

So I came to the realisation today that I hadn't get showed off my latest haircut! I got it done the Saturday before Christmas and it's been a long time coming, so I thought I would show off the new do that everyone else seems to be going for too! Have you gone in for the chop too? What are we calling this style ladies because I don't know yet!?
I always like a change in my hair. Normally we're talking colour or a sweeping fringe, but I retracted my pledge about cutting hair any shorter and went for the big trim! I'd been pinning a few haircuts on Pinterest throughout the month before, and I was always drawn back to this style. Eventually I bit the bullet and booked to get it cut a couple of days later! I just thought if I didn't like it I knew it'd always grow back (like last time), and well... YOLO!
I've been loving the length and how easy it is to manage now in terms of dry time and styling. Agreeably, I can't get it in a plait, but I can still manage a top knot! I also love that it's just above my shoulders curly and just below straight, so it can do a hell of a lot with manipulating the length! Its also a blunt cut rather than the layered look for a little edge at the moment, but that might be the next step, since I think these curls would look amazing with this length and layered! I've loved creating the 'beach hair' look with a little salt spray and alternatively curling it with my new Enrapture Totem Styler for something a little more natural and glamorous!
I honestly didn't think I'd love it as much as I have, but I'll definitely be keeping this length a while! I'd like to say it suits me quite nicely! What do you think?

L'Oreal Post Party Beauty SOS Kit

Just before Christmas I bought the L'Oreal Skin Perfection 3 in 1 Purifying Micellar Solution and L'Oreal Triple Active Day Moisturiser in one of those Christmas sets they called the Post-Party Beauty SOS Kit! I thought it was a great gift set and something I'd been wanting to try out. Noticing that it was £10 together and more expensive separately, I bought the set there and then. Just as a little heads up - it is currently £5 online!
Firstly the Skin Perfection 3 in 1 Puryfying Micellar Solution boasts about its 3 uses: removing make up, unclogging pores and skin toning, whilst the Triple Active Day Moisturiser offers hydration, protection and comfort.
I've been using this about 2 weeks now and Ive been using them both everyday in the morning, and the Micellar Solution again in the evening to remove my make up from the day and I'm happy to say that I've received positive results from them both!
With the Micellar Solution I've noticed my pores visibly reduced and my skin a little tighter than it used to be. I'm the sort to forget skin care for a few weeks when I'm losing my enthusiasm, but seeing the results of this, I dare not let my skin care slip! I apply it onto a cotton pad, remove and repeat until my face is completely clean of make up. I use about 2-3 pads and the only complaint I have is that it spills out a little too quickly from the bottle. I find myself racing the liquid, and either getting not enough product, or way too much and it's spilling down my arm. I love this cleanser and it works just as well as the Bioderma H2O Sensibio, as well as being widely available, but if I were to buy it again I would have to invest in one of those make up remover pump dispensers to keep that I'm control, which isn't a bad idea. I noticed yesterday that I'm running very low already, which I wasnt too happy about.
As for the moisturiser, I use this every morning before applying my make up and is really comfortable once applied, as well as throughout the day. It doesn't feel caked on or slippery, but as if it sinks into the skin instantly for that soft hydrated feel in seconds. Over the last few weeks I've definitely felt that my skin feels a lot more hydrated and awake, especially as I'm prone to dry and tired skin. I've tried lots of moisturisers but never felt that noticeable difference until this one. It seems perfect for me!
Using both these products over the last few weeks, I can honestly say that I've noticed my skin to be visibly more hydrated, as well as feeling it too. I've also noticed that my pores have got significantly smaller, as I have quite large pores and that my skin feels a lot tighter and looks a lot healthier.
If you'd asked me whether I would buy both of these again, I'd say I would. I love the formula for both of them and what they do to my skin is just what I need. I would have to buy a make up remover pump dispenser, but that's not biggie when you're going to be using it everyday. I have some money to spend on amazon so it may be a little treat to myself!
I was always interested in the L'Oreal Skin Perfection range when it was first released too, so there are more products of theirs I would like to try too like the Magic Touch Instant Blur, Awakening + Correcting Eye Cream and the Cleansing Milk.
Have you tried anything from the L'Oreal Skin perfection range! Let me know, and link me to your reviews!

Olive,

Today I found out that my Auntie Olive had passed away. Luckily she'd passed of old age, and in her mid 90s, I believe she'd lived a long life well! I am pretty choked up about it, but I have have to be happy that I only good memories of her, correcting my grammar, laughing with her and listening to her stories.
A few years back, she'd given to me this beautiful vintage gold compact just as a gift of kindness and the beautiful diamond studded star earrings were given to me for my 18th birthday. Oddly I did think of her yesterday as I rummaged through my jewellery box that I must get those pretty earrings repaired as they are my favourite and most treasured earrings. I'm planning a visit to the jewellers tomorrow to do just that.
I treasure the items she gave me, the compact is admittedly my favourite as I know it was hers before it was mine. It just feels a little more special to me. One day, I intend to pass them down to my children or grandchildren and tell them her story. I still can't believe she's gone, but I hope she knows that I loved her and that I thought of her. Rest in peace Baba, we'll miss you dearly.

Meet Dodger

Meet Dodger, John and Family's cheeky little rascal Blue Staffordshire Bull! He's currently 12 weeks old and full of bounce! John had been thinking about getting a pup with his family for a long time, and after meeting this little fella online and then buying him on the spot, they bought him home and welcomed him to the family. He's a clevel little pup and within a week and a half knows how to sit, wait, give his paw and lay down. He's absolutely adorable, and though a feisty and energetic one, loves a cuddle now and then and his sausages on a string.

I thought it would be nice to introduce you guys to him, as he may be making more than just one or two appearances on here from now on. He got over 60 likes overnight on Instagram so he's definitely made an impact there, beating my most liked photo in a matter of hours! Cheeky... Of course, I won't forget about my little Dolly pops back home! She's a lovely little thing, and I love her to pieces! I hope they could meet some day but my Dolls is scared of other dogs... Maybe! We will see!

What do you think of the newest addition to the family!? Isn't he just the cutest?

What Cat Wore: Check Coat

Check Coat - Miss Selfridge
Crop Jumper - Miss Selfridge (old)
Joni Jeans - Topshop

I love a casual and easy outfit to go shopping in, and for the sales this outfit was perfect. I bought quite a bit in the sales so maybe I'll do a Sale Haul soon.
I also bought this coat as a Christmas present to myself, and I love it. The only problem is, is now I don't have much that goes with it! How would you fashionistas wear this?
I paired up my new coat with my newest favourite high waisted Topshop Joni Jeans, and an old favourite crop jumper for this outfit. I was bought this jumper 2 years ago at Christmas. I love the colours and sequins in between. It isn't something I'd normally go for, but my mum always buys me things like that and I end up loving them more than expected!

What Cat & John Did: Afternoon Tea at Fortnum & Mason

Yesterday, me, John, mum, dad and little sister took a visit into London for Afternoon tea at Fortnum & Mason! I love their all their tea, my dad brings it home when he goes for Afternoon Tea and sometimes orders it online, and their biscuits are amazing too, so my dad decided to take us all out there for a nice family afternoon out. I thought I would share the few pictures I took of the tea!

Afternoon tea consisted of a selection of finger sandwiches, scones and cakes! It all tasted so amazing, but surprisingly my favourite part was definitely the scones! I thought I'd like the cakes but there were one too many I wasnt find of, including macaroons! I thought I would, but they tasted too perfumed!
I was excited to be drinking chai tea instead of a normal one that my dad would have at home, and john went for a classic afternoon blend. We drank about 2 pots of tea each, and we're offered more and more of each plate of food. It was perfect service, and perfect food!
Fortune & Mason is definitely worth going to for the amazing experience! It is £40 a head but you do get a lot for your money. Even just shopping through all 3 floors of tea, coffee, homeward, accessories and fragrance and beauty is worth the visit! I almost came home with the most beautiful Vivienne Westwood bag, and now I'm obsessed with the idea of getting one...! I can't wait to go back again, maybe with just me and John next time!

What Cat Wore: Fortnum & Mason's Afternoon Tea

Skirt - Miss Selfridge
Shoes - Topshop
Clutch - Dorothy Perkins

Today, me and the family as well as John went to Fortnum & Mason's for Afternoon Tea! It was an amazing experience and a half, and would definitely recommend going there. But I won't talk too much about it today as I'll be writing another post about the experience tomorrow.
I thought today I would share my outfit. I was really excited to show off my new jacket today that I'd bought in the River Island sale along with my new shoes from Topshop (that were only a fiver) to match! I decided to wear it with a simple black skater and a white cami to keep it simple and really make a statement of my lovely jacket! This was a perfect outfit for the occassion, as a smart/casual dress code was applied, and I didn't feel out of place. In a super-posh place like that, you don't want to feel like people are staring!
I can't wait to wear my jacket again. It looks great with my new Joni jeans and a plain top for a casual dinner date type outfit! I'm loving the loud bright jackets! Maybe I'll invest in another one?
