What Cat Did: Kerastraight at Salon International

A few weeks ago I had the chance to try out a new brand and my first hair care treatment with KeraStraight! KeraStraight is a brand that focuses on ridding your daily haircare problems. They offer two treatments, the KS Ultimate which is a treatment that lasts up to 4 months which is perfect for super duper curly hair - this treatment will help define your curls and also make it heaven to straighten! The second treatment is the Instense Boost which lasts up to 30 days and focuses on the condition of the hair repairing it as well as adding shine and a silky soft touch to the hair. I personally suffer from dry over-heated hair, that's also frizzy and hard to brush through when wet, and when KeraStraight told me about the Intense Boost Treatment, it sounded right for me!

^^^ BEFORE & AFTER ^^^

Image Credit: KeraStraight - Thank you for letting me use the photos! ♥

There are two Intense Boost treatments: one that focuses on putting protein back into hair, and one that focuses on putting moisture back into the hair, and of course I went for the moisture boost treatment. I had the lovely Kymberley treating my hair that day, and I don't think I realised what was going on until I got to Salon International - which I forgot to mention is a absolutely huge and buzzing convention for all things hair and beauty! The treatment was done on a stage as a live demo show and there was a lots of people watching as three of us at a time got our hair treated! I was buzzing from the atmosphere and feeling right in the centre of it all. The team at the KeraStraight stand that day were absolutely amazing in taking care of me and made me feel so comfortable - bearing in mind I had a huge hangover that I was masking!

Back to the treatment! The treatment only takes about 30 minutes overall but with how busy all the stylists were it did take a little bit longer. First of all my hair was washed twice with a cleansing shampoo to open up the hair cuticles and then towel dried. I was then taken straight to the stage where Kymberley applied the Intense Boost Moisture Treatment and then brushed it in well. Before that, there was a little talk where the lovely woman (whose name I cannot remember!) asked people to touch my hair to feel the condition of the hair, and boy... people were honest! They said how it felt dry and straw-like and not nice to tough in general, but then the woman explained that this wouldn't be for long, and that just got me more excited than I already was for the end result. After the treatment was brushed in, it was dried in on a low heat until my hair was completely dry. She then rinsed it all out and took me back to the stage where she then styled my hair leaving me with super-soft bouncy hair! It was honestly as simple as that - and all that in about 45 minutes!
You can see from my before and after the difference in my hair, but it's no comparison to how it feels. Two and a half weeks later and my hair is still really soft and silky and so so easy to manage. The results were so beyond what I expected! I'm seriously SO impressed, especially after almost three weeks after having the treatment done.
KeraStraight were so nice that they even gave me an after care kit to keep my hair at it's best at home. I received the KeraStraight Straight Maintain Shampoo & Conditioner and then the KeraStraight Ultimate Oil, which I have to say feels amazing on the hair.

I had such a great experience with KeraStraight and Salon International was amazing! I did have a walk around and really liked it. I took a peek at Tangle Teezer's stand and they had a good sale going on! I did actually vlog most of the day, but kinda gave up towards the end because I had train troubles and I was feeling a bit weird from the night before but I still did it! If you'd like to see that then let me know, because I'm in the middle of editing it and I'm cringing at the sound of my own voice and the fact that I can't look at the camera lens properly! Eurgh.
All in all it was such a great experience, and if you have hair similar to mine and you'd like something that will help the condition of your hair I really recommend it! I heard that the Intense Boost treatment is actually not that expensive too, I've seen a couple of salon's pricing it around £25-35 but I'm not 100% as all Salons charge different prices! It's a good little pick me up for you and your hair if you're feeling the need to fix it up a bit ♥

What Cat Wore: Tartan Bow

Tartan Headband - River Island
Crop Top - Miss Selfridge
Jeans - Topshop

Okay, so I did originally take pictures of this outfit - but they didn't come out too good, so I didn't bother! Sometimes that's the way it turns out - and with such minimal natural lighting available to me either in the morning or the evening of my days I don't get the chance to take any of my photos. I kinda don't want to invest in a soft box light yet since I don't feel the need for one, but I do want one - it would be a little useful!
I wanted to show off my new headband from River Island more than anything. If you know me well, you know I'm a tartan/check girl at heart - totally obsessed! Just today I was in HomeSense eyeing up a tartan throw for my bed. Boyfriend dragged me away from it before I picked it up...
I bought this headband last minute in the queue at RI, and I originally picked up a headband with tartan cat ears, but then saw this! I changed my mind because instantly I thought of so many ways to style my hair with it. You know it's worth investing in when you can think about all the different ways to style something - if there's more than three - go for it!
I honestly love me some check and tartan... What's your favourite fashion print?

Review | Faith In Nature Pineapple & Lime Shampoo & Conditioner

Faith In Nature - Pineapple & Lime Shampoo & Conditioner *

So I'm not often one to venture into different brands of shampoo. I tend to stick to the basic brands such as Tresemme or Herbal Essences and then go for one of their damage repair or hydration shampoos since my hair can get quite a bit of breakage at times as well as getting too dry for it's own good from all the styling. So when Faith In Nature asked me if I'd like to try one of their shampoos and conditioners I thought it would be a good change and something different to try on my problematic hair.
Faith In Nature pride themselves on being a locally produced brand and only using the best in their products. They have a list on their website of things they use in their products and why and as well as that a list of things they don't use in their products so you know what you're buying.

Firstly - I'd like to mention the smell. Ohhhhh YES. This smells exactly like what you'd expect it to - pineapple and lime. I adore it, and the best thing is that after washing your hair smells just like this too, so prepare to smell like a walking tropical fruit basket. It's honestly one of the best smelling shampoos I've ever used - I'd buy it again or any of their other many shampoos at that just to smell amazing. Imagine smelling like the chocolate shampoo.... Oooooh.
Washing my hair, the shampoo left my hair feeling very nourished and clean. I know it sounds weird to say clean, but that clean feeling is important to me. I really don't like it when shampoos don't foam up, because to me it doesn't feel like it's doing much but this foams up really well and you can really feel it working into your hair. And also I don't like it when you have to use more than you'd like to cover all your hair so I was impressed that a little product here indeed went a long way.
It's the same story with the conditioner; I now use the Splash Tangle Teezer to comb in my conditioners for an even coverage and a little of this really goes a long way to cover the hair. I leave it in for 5 minutes and my hair feels as smooth and soft as it should be!

If I had to put this product into three words it would be: Fruity, Foamy and Clean!
I definitely would buy Faith In Nature shampoos and conditioners again and they come at a great price for what they are and how much you get at £5.50 a bottle for 400ml. Maybe I'll try the Chocolate or the Coconut one next time.
Have you ever tried the Faith In Nature shampoo & conditioners? Which scent would you go for?

What Cat Wore: Minty Bambi

Tee & Skirt - Primark
Fluffy Cardigan - F&F Tesco
Necklace - Market (Portugal)

Ermahgerd. I just loved this outfit I wore out on Sunday. It's just so pretty and comfy and the perfect winter pastel outfit, even though it wasn't cold enough to classify the weather as "wintery". I bought this amazing mint PU skirt back in January and I've only worn the beaut once to the Blogger Swap Shop Party which was in February. Since then I haven't managed to make this skirt work throughout SS14 and that's because I now believe it was made for the winter. I've had both these items for a long time and didn't think of pairing the two. How could I not have thought it before!? As for covering up, a coat or jacket was going to be too much so it just made sense to bring out my fluffy cardigan out for the first time this season.
I played it safe with the black tights and as for footwear I went for my newest dark green pumps which went surprisingly well with this ensemble. I love it!
I did forget to share the bag I was using on Sunday too which is my totally amazeballs doughnut clutch bag, still yet to be featured here. It's my new favourite statement piece! But I don't think this outfit needed a statement piece with all the Bambi & Thumper cuteness going on one of my most favourite and overly worn tees!

My Little Box by Diane Von Furstenberg

This month's My Little Box is designed entirely by the lovely New York designer herself Diane Von Furstenberg who invented the timeless and oh so beautiful wrap dress back in the 70s. This box is just utterly amazing and definitely up from last months box, and if you want to see why - just carry on scrolling down and reading!

The packaging is beautifully designed as before and packed in the same way. A little bow wrapping the contents together and another inspirational A5 image on top. I love these little A5 cards, for their beauty and the words on them, and because they're so pretty I think I've got an idea when I have a few of them.
I also  really enjoyed reading the magazine that came with this box, which was entirely based around DVF, sharing Diane's story and history as well as other people's DVF stories and how she's inspired them in different ways. I loved the scarf tutorial too, which I immediately tried out myself and wore to work. If you follow me on instagram, you would have already seen this!

Inside there was also a sweet little pin of the iconic lips by Diane, which I've popped on my work lanyard. Diane was a very strong independent woman who knew what she wanted, how she was going to get it and at the end of it all - got it. And the way she's made her career inspires me to move up with mine, so I like to keep this pin with me at work so I can look at it and be inspired to work harder to be a woman like Diane.

The usual 3 beauty products in a drawstring bag are here and I've already tried 2 of 3. The Micellar Water by their own brand My Little Beauty is great at removing make up and I'll definitely be using it a lot. It feels a little oily on the skin compared to my usual Bioderma Micellar Water but in a good way if that makes any sense! I can really see it working on my skin removing every last trace of dirt and make up and I give it a big thumbs up for that.
I did also really like the hairspray by Kerastase. It holds really well without leaving that stiff feeling, and kept my hair on point the few times I've used it! I'm also really excited to try the L'Occtaine hand cream as I've only ever heard good things about the company. I'll be popping this in my bag for convenient use and because it's easily pocket sized!

Lastly and definitely not least we have an absolutely perfect DVF scarf in one of her iconic prints always inspired by the natural world! I truly love this scarf already and it hasn't even been mine a week. It's so bold and bright and there are so many ways to use it. I can see myself using it to brighten up dull outfits when they come. It'll definitely liven up a simple LBD!
I know it's only been the second box, but I simply adore the My Little Box subscription and can't wait to see what they have in store next. I'm sure the scarf will be featured in an outfit very soon, and possibly multiple times!
What do you think of the box? Have you taken a look at My Little Box yet?

What Cat Wore: Double Check

Coat - Miss Selfridge (AW13)
Scarf - Miss Selfridge
Jumper - H&M (similar linked)
Jeans - Primark
Boots - New Look
Hat - Primark

Yesterday was a "be comfy" day. And when I had to go out and run some errands, I wrapped myself in my newest camel check scarf and decided to clash it with my check coat from last winter. Not the best combination as I'd hoped but I still think it looked okay.
I wore a simple outfit underneath - my fave easy jumper from H&M with jeans and my newest winter boots. I picked out the pastel pink from my jumper and brought that colour into socks and my hat to brighten up the outfit so it wouldn't look so dark. It's almost winter, and it is colder - but not enough to be covered in black all day long! Plus, I think the pastel pink really bought out the autumnal colours in my scarf, coat and shoes!
I think I pulled together a weird outfit here, but I quite like the quirky touch.

Hope you've all had a lovely weekend ♥

What Makes Me Happy Today

Recently, I've really been thinking about what makes me happy. From the big things to the little things, and how they make you smile, and the worst days just a little better. It's always the little things on bad days, and the ones we take for granted. But that doesn't mean we forget those big important ones - they're the big stones in that life jar with the sand (little things) filling the cracks! (Comment life jar if you know what I'm referencing!)
So what makes me happy right now?

Perfect cups of tea. Because on a bad day, a perfectly made tea can make my day just that little bit brighter, because it's something to really take in and enjoy.
Fleece blankets. There's something about fleece... It's my favourite fabric in the winter and probably because it doesn't matter how cold it gets, my fleece blanket is never too cold to get into, and instantly warming. Fleece onesie this year please?
Christmas spirit. And with this in mind and Christmas hitting the shops, I can just hear the Coca-Cola theme tune for Christmas... Holidays are coming, holidays are coming. It makes me feel all warm inside and excited for possibly my most favourite time of year!
Frozen Free Fall. This is one of those games you don't need an internet connection to play so on my lunch hours it's my escape until I run out of lives! It's really irritating that so many games need an internet connection to play, because if it didn't I would probably play them more!
Chai Latte. This is my Costa Coffee order right now, and I know most of your bloggers are Starbucks girls but I've always been closer to a Costa and I love their Chai Lattes! The spice, the sweetness that means it needs no sugar. And when they top it off with cinnamon.... Mmmmm.
My Boyfriend. John makes me happy 1000% of the time all the time. Just a little text or one of his squeezy man cuddles in enough to make me smile. I love that we've pre-planned Christmas a little this year too, from shopping trips to limits and I actually know what I'm getting him his year! John if you're reading this, I'm not telling you and don't try to guess!
In 6 months I'll have a new bedroom. Now I haven't really mentioned this before but about a year ago, my dad started the planning to get our house done up. It's going to take a while and it was supposed to start mid way through this year, but in January the work starts and I'll be moving out from my current shared bedroom to my own one! I know exactly how I'm going to decorate it and I'm already looking at what I'll be buying for my dream room! It's a big deal for me because I've shared a room for a really long time and being 25 by the end of the year it's going to be amazing to finally have my own space during adult life - well before moving out of course!
My Little Box. I never gave into a subscription box though I have been at the checkout pages of many throughout the year. I never really felt the 100% commitment to any of them until My Little Box came along! You can read all about my first subscription box, which was also the first available to us Brits as they're a French company and I've just received my second one which is inspired by New York designer Diane Von Furstenberg! It's a beauty/fashion/lifestyle box with a great monthly price, I couldn't resist and I won't be unsubscribing any time soon! They're amazing!
My Job. Yes, my job! I've really been enjoying my new job that I've been in for 2 months now and I can feel in my mind and in my heart this was the best move I made. I'm so happy there and I work with some lovely people. And though my work isn't something I'll ever want to talk about on my blog, I love it and I feel it needs a little spot in this post because it does make me happy right now. I feel a sense of achievement right now and like it could only go up from here. I hope it does :)
YOU. Yes you reading this. Because you are here reading this! I love being a blogger and any bonuses that come with it! I just want to share the things I want to share and I love that I have a fair few of you here reading the things I spend sometimes hours writing. It makes it all worth while if you comment or follow or like a post on bloglovin' because you guys make me happy just by being here! Thank you for making my blog a happier place for me to enjoy!

Share what makes you happy right now. It might be something small or big but no matter how crappy life can get even the smallest thing can make the world a little brighter, even if it is just a perfect cup of tea or a smile from a stranger.

Wishlist #72 - Cat's Geeky Style Edit

I'm really putting myself out there sharing all my most weirdest geekiest wishlist with you, but I felt the need to share and be more myself on my blog! Now if you REALLY know me you know I'm a big fan of pokemon, cute things, characters of all sorts, dogs, and basically when I like something - I really like it! And if I can wear it, I will probably want it!
Take the Pikachu onesie for example - I could BE a Pikachu. It's simple as, and any Pokemon Masters out there like me will understand. The Charizard snapback is just epic - and I've been after a super over the top decoden phone case for ages, and this one has caught my eye for a very long time.
Puppies are my first favourite here, and probably the more accepted wearable character on this wishlist! I saw this super cute sweater on OASAP and I just love the idea of having a big husky face on my top... And then schnauzer faces on my feet!
The row of leggings above is pretty self explanatory. I'm sure I've featured the Middle Earth leggings before a while back, and The Little Mermaid ones are amazing, with the film being my favourite of the Disney films! And if I text you or tweet you, you're most likely to see a cheeky monkey emoji on there somewhere... It  just makes sense. Just like that blog tee! *wink wink nudge nudge*
If it doesn't get any weirder, we have the 90s TV cartoons all on a pair of amazing sweatpants - which lets face it, is too crazy for the public but good enough for lounging in at home. The likes of Dexter and Johnny Bravo appear on there... It's like Cartoon Network exploded on them.
Lastly, and probably my most sincere and realistic want here (apart from the Pikachu Onesie - that's number 1) are a pair of Irregular Choice shoes. I've always always always wanted the Miaow boots, and figured one day they may hit the sale, since I could never grasp the idea of paying over £100 for a pair of shoes. But I may just have to give in to my year in year out want and get them. In the black of course, so I could wear them with everything! And the Cherry Deer shoes are just beautiful and quirky in the best way - they'd look great with jeans and a simple tee to for everyday wear or with a dress for a prettier look!

Share with me your most weirdest or geekiest want right now in the comments below, show me I'm not the only one with a geeky wishlist! Whether it be the burger clutch from New Look or something as ridiculous as emoji leggings!

Lush Haul

A follow up post? OMG.
Yes, yes, a follow up to the Lush Wishlist! But a little fact - this haul happened before the wishlist, thus the wishlist not containing any of these Lush goodies in it.
I've always loved Lush, but never really tried any of the bath bombs or bubble bars before. But I thought it was about time I popped my Lush bath product cherry and try something new, going for everything all at once! I did two trips too, because I did one mini haul, and later on saw all the Christmas stuff come out and did a second one. It made sense to try the Christmas stuff too now it's coming up to one of my favourite times of year!

As for bubble bars, I went for the all time favourite Comforter which smells exactly like love hearts - I've already tried this and I adore the smell and it just sent me into the best relaxing state! I felt the same about the Brightside bar, which smells just like orange sherbert. I love that they change the colour of the water too, it just adds a little more magic! I also have the Christmas Penguin which I'm super excited to try!
Of bath bombs I bought the Dragon's Egg, So White and Cinders. The Dragon's Egg bomb was pre-bath entertainment. The yellow centre was a perfect surprise and the little flecks of colour popped out giving me a rainbow to bathe in! I'm really excited to try cinders which smells like Christmas, and So White which smells sooooo good. Like apples! I've never had a bath bomb of any sort before so I really enjoyed using Dragon's Egg as my first one.
On top of that I bought the Melting Snowman bath melt, which just looks too cute to melt away in my bath - I think I'm saving this for my first super cold day off where I'll have a wintery pamper sesh. I also bought the Steam Dream tab just because it looked really interesting. Once I post this, I think that's what I'll get up to before heading to bed fresh faced and relaxed.

I noticed whilst shopping for my new Lush bits, I was drawn a lot more to the candy, sweet scents and also fruitier notes. And I've become a real sucker for Lush - didn't someone say there was a lush advent calendar coming out!? I'd there is I'm up for that - and tell me if the rumour is true!
I've discovered a new place in my heart for lush products, and I can't wait to try some more of their bath products in particular - revert back to my wishlist to see what I'm probably popping in my basket next! I know I'm super late on the bandwagon, but if just wasn't quite on it properly before. It doesn't help that it's opposite my workplace too... Literally a stones throw away everyday... Oops! Love you Lush peeps ♥

My Little Parisian Box

I've never subscribed to a beauty box, or any monthly box subscription at that. But I've always loved the idea of it, and the idea of a beauty/fashion related one, so when I saw My Little Box, a fashion/beauty box I knew this was the one. And at just under £15 (£11 + £3.95 P&P) it seemed too good an opportunity to pass up!
My Little Box is originally based in Paris, France - but due to their popularity, they've started making these beautiful boxes for us UK gals! My Little Parisian Box I believe is the first box sent out to the UK and after seeing so many blogs about this, I've subscribed myself - mine's come very late since I subscribed late but none the less here it is!

Firstly I have to mention the beautiful packaging. Everything's so much better in a lovely box with a lid that you can re-use at a later date, and then when everything is wrapped up in a cute little bow? That's just showing off ;)
I didn't know what to expect, but I was instantly impressed and I hadn't even pulled out the contents yet!

On the very top of the contents was a cute little inspirational quote, relating to why Paris is always a good idea! I'd have to agree - I've been to Paris about 4-5 times now, and I still think I haven't seen it all. I've been more times when I was too small to appreciate it but the last couple of times were the most memorable. That said, every time I've been, it's been in awe of Paris' beauty & secrets. The Eiffel Tower, Notre Dam, the streets, shopping, coffee shops, art and style! It's all my kinda thing! This quote makes me want to go to Paris again even more now.
Underneath that was a set of cute stickers to put anywhere you'd like. I think I'm going to save these for my scrapbook, so that when me and John go to Paris together for the first time and I can document it and already have Parisian related stickers to decorate!

Next I pulled out one of my favourite things in the world - Un Carnet! I love a notebook to doodle on and make good use of, and now I can add this to my collection of empty ready to use notebooks. I love how My Little Box have added a few magazine style pages to start of the book introducing themselves to us new UK customers and letting us know all about them and what they do... It's clever, and I've enjoyed reading all about them. It's also excited me for the next box, which I believe is inspired by Diane Von Furstenburg, fashion designer famous for her wrap dress.

After that, I found beauty products. And yes yes yes, I was excited for this! All wrapped up in the cutest drawstring bag (which I think will be perfect for weekend away toiletries!), were these three lovely miniture beauty bits to try and a little leaflet describing them and what they are and for.
First off we have the Laura Mercier Foundation Primer, which I was happy to have since I'm almost out and after reading about it, am intrigued to try. Then we have the My Little Beauty Stylo Lumiere, which is a highlighter pen. I've very interested in this since this is My Little Box's own brand My Little Beauty and I'm also not very acquainted with highlighter pens so it will be a first of this type of product for me. Lastly we have what I think will be my favourite products, and it is the Nuxe Paris Multi-Purpose Oil, for hair, nails, body and face. I recently discovered that I've got quite dry dehyrdated skin, so I'm sure I can easily put this to the test and see what it can really do! All in all, I'm very excited to try all of these products and possibly review them at a later date.

Last of all the goodies in the box, was this really pretty and handy laptop cover! I adore the design on the front of it, and especially as the little dog reminds me of my little Dolly dog. Unfortunately it doesn't fit my current laptop just slightly! But I am very overdue a laptop upgrade so I'm sure I'll get one that will fit in this when I do. For now it will be home to my iPad and other gadgets for safe keepings at home. There is always a use if it isn't for it's primary one!

This box was so much more than I expected! And for the price, you're getting a lot of stuff. I will be 100% honest and did think, omg what if I don't like it once I'd ordered and almost regretted it, contemplating just cancelling the subscription there and then. But I'm glad I didn't once I'd got it! It's such a pretty box and beholds more than just beauty products, which is why I went for it in the first place. I will actually use ALL the things in this box, the notebook, the beauty products, the laptop cover and even those little stickers! I know without a doubt they're all useful to me. And I am just so excited for the next box now. I definitely recommend getting this box, it's all a versatile blogger would love! Go to My Little Box now and get it for yourself! You know it makes sense...
