The Christmas Tag

OHMYGOD. It's literally 9 DAYS until Christmas Day! Who's excited? Are you excited? I'm excited!
In 9 days we say Happy Birthday to Jesus and have a day of joy and happiness by giving gifts to the ones we love and sharing a glorious feast! Oh yeah, I do love Christmas and everything that comes with it before and after, it's all just a couple of weeks of amazingness thrown in with a brand new year on the end of it! What an end of year party? I thought I'd celebrate my excitedness by doing the Christmas Tag (found on Milk Bubble Tea)! I did intend on doing a video but there is no time or place to film... fgs. But thus here it is in written form.... ENJOY!

1. What is your favourite Christmas Movie/s?
I love a good Christmas film and I rekindled my love for Home Alone the other day when it was on the TV three times in two days on all different channels! So I've already watched it a few times this year.
I also really love Elf and watched it the other day before putting the tree up! It's the last most recent Christmas film made that's actually any good - nothing after that compares! It makes me laugh soooo much and really love the story too - plus it helps Zooey Deschanel is a total babe and I love her.

2. Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?
At my house we do it the best way - all on Christmas morning! Sometimes we do just open one on Christmas Eve but I don't to!
But I will tell you a story - so when I was little we did it the Portuguese Christmas way which was a little backwards now that I think about it. And we done this until I was about 8. So, on Christmas Eve, we'd all pop a shoe out by the tree and then hide at midnight for "Santa to come deliver the presents". This would scare the hell out of my little brother, which in turn would make me laugh. After "Santa had left" we'd go out to the living room, find our shoe and open our presents! And the reason for the shoe? So Santa would know what house you were at and where to put your presents... Or so I was told! So many lols.

3. Do you have a favourite Christmas memory?
I'll be honest here and say I don't have a favourite memory in particular! But I in fact have a favourite collection of memories which happens around the same time every Christmas and that's when I'm looking around at everyone's happy faces after they open their presents. Whether it be because they're appreciating the thought behind the gift, the gift they may have wanted or they're just generally having a good day - it makes me happy!

4. Favourite festive food?
Stuffing. All the stuffing! Today I had a turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce baguette and it was amazing, because there was so much more stuffing than turkey! I also love the little pigs in blankets, parsnips and roast potatoes. Oh and I like Brussels sprouts!

5. Favourite Christmas gift?
I don't have a particular favourite really, but if I had to think of one favourite, it comes more from the surprise of it than the actual gift - that said it is the biggest most expensive thing I've ever received and it's my car. Probably because they were so sneaky about it and I was really not expecting it already having a car. I remember my dad telling me to grab champagne from the garage and walking in to find it sitting there! I was so happy with my gifts that morning that I had thought seconds before opening that door that it was already such a perfect christmas as it was so it was a pure shock to me to find a really nice car waiting for me to find it - I love it and it's still my baby upsy to this day ♥
As a child althought it was probably my play kitchen! I adored that thing and used to play with it alllll the time! I love playing house with it with all the little pots and pan. It was every little girl's dream to have one of those back in the day when you were six!

6. Favourite Christmas scent?
Christmas dinner! It's the one smell that comes back around every year. I do love the smell of Christmas cookies and baking but nothing beats the smell of a Christmas dinner.

7. Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?
At my house it's to have our Christmas Eve Chinese. We usually close our family chippy for the holidays on Christmas Eve and then when we're all done we order a Chinese and watch Christmas Eve TV. A perfect way to start the holidays!

8. What tops your tree?
It's always a gold star at home. Every few years or so my mum likes to buy a whole new set of decorations and at the moment the theme is red and gold.
Me and John have our own tree at his house and we like to keep to our red and white theme... with no Christmas topper. We've had the tree for the forth year running and still no tree topper. The funny thing is we said that's probably our thing - to not have a tree topper. That said, we have a straw robin nesting upon the top at the moment!

9. As a kid what was the one (crazy, wild, extravagant) gift you always asked for but never received?
Oh gosh I know this one clear as day! Haha!!!
I will never forget the many years I wanted Baby Born and never got her. *sings theme tune out loud* Now I think about it it was a super over priced baby doll but still - at the time it was awesome (and did I mention over-priced?) - she ate, drank, peed into real nappies and had a million outfits and a push chair - that you had to buy all separately. It still sounds amazing to me because I haven't seen one come out that was better than that, and somewhere in my heart I still want it because I never got it. It was the baby doll every one had but me, and though it didn't change my life at all not having it, it still feels like it was the one gift that got away....

10. What's the best part about Christmas for you?
The best part is the time around the table. Everyone talks, laughs, smiles and is genuinely happy. No one argues, everyone enjoys the food and the presents and the day's always been perfect - even if something's gone wrong! I love that moment when I think - today's been great ♥

I love Christmas. It is definitely the most wonderful time of the year!
