Game Night with Soundiculous

Back in February I reviewed a game called Randomise, a game that has made it's way into many game nights since we first played it. And today I'm reviewing another game that could be doing the very same thing. This game is called Soundiculous and it's created by the same people that created Randomise! At a recent family gathering we played this game which caused all sorts of confusion and laughter. I can safely say this is as fun and ridiculous as it sounds! (lol, see what I did there?)

My 30 Before 30 Bucket List

In about a year and a half I will be turning 30. Like many, there's a lot I'd like to do before I reach the big three-oh. Age is just a number and to me it doesn't mean much, but the milestone does give me a deadline date for when I'd like to complete, achieve and experience some things by. I'm not saying that if I don't complete them by the time I'm thirty I've missed my chance, but I'm hoping that this list will encourage and motivate me to make the most of now, and push myself to get ticking some things on my 30 before 30 bucket list.

Bullet Journal | August Set Up

This month my bullet journal theme is: Lavender. After being inspired by the lavender in my own garden and my friend who I call 'Mr Bee' who visits my lavender everyday, I decided to dedicate August to just that. My theme was going to be very boxy and around houses since I've just moved in but I think this lavender theme is already a hundred times better.

7 Books On My Summer Reading List

I've had this post sitting in my drafts for quite a while and the reason I didn't post it earlier is simply because I'm not a big reader, a book blogger and at the time, I was honestly feeling really rubbish about blogging and what I was doing. But I've come to a point where I've overcome that rubbish 'I-don't-know-what-I'm-doing' feeling and decided to just blog what I want to blog about and forget having to stick to a label. I'm one of those bloggers who just blogs what she feels like and that's it. I'm an overall lifestyle blogger.

Anyway, I have seven unread books I want to try and get through this summer - or at least make a dent in. I've promised myself that I won't buy anymore books until this list has been read because if not I'll just have a huge collection of unread books waiting to be read and loved. Without further ado, here's what's on my reading list this summer.

July '18

This month has gone by awfully fast. There's been smiles, laughter, tears and life changing moments. I'm so unbelievably happy to have finally moved into a home of our own, to be on holiday for the next few weeks and to be where I am now. This July has been a turning point in the year and my life. and right now, all I know is that everything feels right at the moment. I don't want it to change! July has been jam packed so let me tell you a little bit about what's been happening this month.

Home | Moving Day

Home | Moving Day - getting the keys

Just under two weeks ago, John and I moved into our first home together. It was one of the most exciting and life-changing days of our lives and the start of a whole new chapter for us. Having lived with our own families for our whole lives, this was big stuff for both of us. It was emotional and surreal but it was also amazing and eventful. We've been preparing for this day for 5 long months and though we had some little and large bumps along the way, we're finally in, happy and settled enough for me to sit down and write the story of our moving day.

My Top 5 Dress Trends For Summer 2018

Top 5 Dress Trends Summer 2018
The dress. A one piece that comes in countless shapes, fabrics, lengths and styles. Dresses have been worn for centuries by people all over the world. Whether they have been for fashion, style, versatility or practicality, dress designers throughout history have all taken 'the dress' and transformed it with their vision of what they think a dress should be, what it should look like and why. I love dresses and how they make me feel. In a dress I feel comfortable, feminine and effortlessly stylish. This season I have seen some amazing dresses and I want them all. What I love is that some of these trends have repeatedly returned to the spotlight time after time so investing in some of these pieces means you have something classic and timeless. Here are my top 5 dress trends I've seen this summer and why I love them.

Bullet Journal | July Set Up

Oops. Once again, this post is a little, but nevertheless here it is: my bullet journal set up for July. I started designing these pages mid June and for some reason lemons came to mind. It wasn't one I was planning on but it's definitely one of my favourite ones so far, and one I've spent the most time on. July is an exciting month for me and I've already began filling these pages in to keep my little self organised. Let's run through what July's set up looks like and why July is my busiest month yet!

June '18

It's a week into July and I'm finally getting some time to write this post. At this moment in time, it's 29 degrees on another sunny weekend, England's just made the semi-finals and I'm just over a week away from moving into my first house with the most amazing man by my side. A pretty good start to July all due to good things in June. June has been filled with busy weekends and some life changing moments too. I've kept to myself a lot last month but I'm here now to write up all about it and why actually, despite some rubbish moments, it's been a good month.

Favourites of 2018 So Far

I can't believe how quick this year has gone. It feels like only yesterday I was wrapped in a coat, drinking countless cups of tea in a row and complaining about how difficult it is to drive in the snow. Now it's June and I'm just weeks away from moving into our new house and eating lunches in the beautiful sunshine. It's been a while since I shared some favourites of mine. I wasn't enjoying writing those posts as much anymore and began to feel more like a 'have to' thing rather than a 'want to'. Today, I want to, so here it is.

Home | House Buying Checklist

It's only about a month until we complete the journey of buying our first home. I haven't had much to say over the last couple of months about our journey to becoming first time buyers and it's because there genuinely hasn't been much to report on. Since getting our offer accepted, the only things we've been up to is getting things together like homeware, quotes for the bills and window shopping for furniture. But as the moving date is coming to a close, I thought it would be the perfect time to make a checklist of all the things you may need to do, have and consider when you buy a house.
As a disclaimer: I'd just like to say that everything I mention in this post is all I know from experience. I am in no way an expert in property buying, I am a first time buyer and I just hope that my posts will support those buying a home for the first time too!

What Cat Wore | My Girl Boss Look

It's been a while since I bought a new outfit. I've been feeling extremely frustrated with my current style and not feeling like I know what it is. On top of that, I've been completely out of touch with trends and so on my last shopping trip I decided to try a couple of things I didn't think I'd like - on purpose to see if I could be inspired by something; anything. Lo and behold, I surprised myself and found a two piece that I fell in love with and makes me feel like a total girl boss!

Bullet Journal | June Set Up

Category is: tropical flowers. (Can you tell I've been watching Ru Paul's Drag Race? lolz) This month I chose to brighten things up in my bullet journal, especially after last month's dreadful theme which was so bad I couldn't bring myself to share the mistake of May's set up. I didn't really use my bullet journal last month but I really wanted to pick things up again and so spent some quality time making this month's pages. I messed up in a few places (as you can probably tell from the intro page) but alas, it's better mistakes than the blue/yellow mess of May.

Wishlist | Park Wildlife

It's been a while since I last created a wishlist but whilst browsing for future home goodies the other day I came across the prettiest collections I've ever seen from Cath Kidston. Just FYI - not an ad! I'm genuinely in love with this and am seriously considering investing in a couple of these pieces. Today I thought it would be nice to get back into my old school 'Wishlist Wednesdays' and share my favourites from the collection.

Things I'm Happy About This Month

It has been a very difficult months for me. There is a lot going on right now and though I'm not yet ready to talk about it yet, I feel the need to at least address that I'm not at my best. I've found it difficult recently to enjoy myself lately and make time do things that I like to do. But I've taken a good hard look at myself and decided that I'm not going to let these negativity take me over and stop me from being happy. Nope. Though I have a lot happening, I'm not going to let it stop me from being optimistic and happy. I need to learn when to stop and take some time for my own well-being. I want to re-realise what makes me happy and take time to enjoy it and appreciate it. So to start myself off, I thought I'd make a list of all the things that have made me happy this month, no matter how rubbish it's been. (Like my 'happy things' post, but with a new name to revamp things and start fresh.)

What Cat Wore | Beacons Project

It's not often I delve into more luxurious brands. When I do, it's usually an investment piece that is versatile and so beautiful to me. It's always something that tugs at my heart strings and this time, it's something that tugs at my heart strings for more than just fashion. It's economical, it's sustainable and it's the Beacon's Project by GANT.

What Cat & John Did | Woburn Safari Park

Last weekend, John and I went to Woburn for a day out and though the weather wasn't the best it was a nice day out. Neither of us had ever been to a safari park so it was something to tick off our list. I took the opportunity to take my camera with me and snap some photos of the animals. I thought it would be nice to share my favourite shots from the day. It's not often I come here to share some photography just because, but I'm bringing it back to my 'old school' blogging style. Enjoy!

Review | My Personalised Case

Phone cases do more than protect your phone from drops and knocks now. Apart from their primary use, they're a way to express your interests and personality, and a canvas to showcase creative art works. I've always loved collecting phone cases and had some great ones for my iPhone 6S, but since I got my iPhone 7, I've only bought two; a rubber case with purple flowers from Tesco (not very me at all) and my Christmas flamingo one from Skinny Dip. With my Tesco one falling apart, it was time to get a new one and one that could express my personality or interests. So when the opportunity came to review a personalised case, I took the chance and created the cutest case I've ever had!

April '18

This month I've been a busy bee. With Easter, birthdays, visits and house stuff going on, I've been out and about a lot throughout April. I've really been enjoying this month and keeping myself busy and making sure I was happy with how my days were spent, especially after March wasn't so great. It just goes to show that things will be alright no matter how they might seem to begin with.

Lifestyle | Getting Cosy & Organised

One thing I'll quite happily admit, is that I love getting new things. Whether its new clothes, fresh stationery or beautiful homeware, I adore shopping and the feeling of getting something great that you know you'll love having, looking at or using. Recently I was lucky enough to be able to do a little haul from Old English Company and I picked up some really lovely bits.

Home | Bedroom Colour Schemes

It's only a few months until John and I will be moving into our first home together. It's coming up fast and I've started to think about things we might want to do with the house to turn it into a home. We know we want to paint and we've talked about the colour schemes we'd like for our living room and kitchen but one of the rooms I'm keen on getting a colour scheme for is our bedroom. It's such an important room and it's one I want to make sure we get right. We both have different ideas of colour schemes and want we'd like our bedroom to look like but I'm determined to find a colour scheme we'll both love.

What Cat Did | A Day In The Cotswolds

This weekend John and I had a little break away up to the Midlands. After a busy start to the year,we really deserved a break away and booked ourselves into a really nice hotel, had a lovely dinner out and then we unexpectedly found our way to the Cotswolds the next day. We hadn't actually planned anything to do whilst we were away so after noticing that the Cotswolds were only 30 minutes away and a TripAdvisor search later, we started making our way to The Cotswold Farm Park. Our joint love for all animals led us there and we had THE cutest day out.

Bullet Journal | April Set Up

I love bullet journalling and one of my favourite things to do is to plan the month ahead. I love going on Pinterest looking for inspiration and taking some of my favourite things and figuring out a theme. For April, I was inspired by some pretty tropical coloured washi tapes I got from Hobbycraft and so April's theme is simply: tropical! I love tropical as a theme in general, being a lover of cacti and bright colours, I feel this theme reflects me really well. Also, my dad used to call me a flamingo because I had a habit of balancing on one leg all the time at work, haha!

March '18

Never have I ever been so happy to see a month fly by. March hasn't been my favourite and I hate being negative Cat, but it just wasn't the best for me. That said, I did have a some good days which I thought it would be nice to share and bring light to the month of March. There was everything from snow and daffodils to births and bunnies! A weird set of things to introduce March off with but all true!

Pinspirations | The Living Room

It's quite clear that the grey and yellow colour scheme is popular at the moment with a number of homeware places selling collections in this colour scheme. I'm more than happy to admit that I'm also absolutely in love with this colour scheme too and for so many reasons. I've always had ideas about how I'd like my living room to look like when the day comes to decorate a place of my own. I always knew I wanted a warm grey theme with a pop of colour and for me it's warm grey and yellow. Not mustard yellow though. Proper yellow.

I Wrote A Letter To My 30 Year Old Self

Two years ago, I decided to write a letter to my 30 year old self. It's a day I often think about and I often wonder if writing that letter has helped me in some way. At the time I was 26 and would be opening this letter in 4 years time. There are 2 years left to go and I'm so eager to read it but, of course, I won't. I used one of those 'letter to my future self' email services and know that I should automatically get it when the big day comes that I'll read this back to myself. I know it was only two years ago but at that point, life looked very different than what it does now and I remember thinking a lot about my future. Today I thought I would finally write about why I wrote that letter to myself and some of the things I think I wrote about in there. I honestly can't remember it very well but I'm going to try.

Home | What To Ask Or Look For At A Viewing

There's a lot of things you've got to think about when you start looking for your first place. And I know I probably skipped a whole part all about knowing what you need before you even start looking, but to be honest, being first time buyers... we don't know it all and I'm not going to pretend that we do. One thing we do know from viewing over a couple of weekends and the amount of advice we've received, is what you should look for during a viewing and the questions you should ask.

February '18

What a life changing February it has been. Though a quiet month of blogging and being online talking to you lovely people, February has been filled with family, life changing decisions and a ton of fun! Life took over this month and despite feeling the guilt of having neglected my little space on the internet, I've enjoyed my time this month away from a computer screen and out doing things I either haven't done in a while or have done for the very first time. Let me talk you through my February...

Bullet Journal | March Set Up

For the first time in a while I have my bullet journal ready with at least a week before the month begins. This month I have a collage floral theme going. I was inspired by some flower cut outs I bought in Tiger about a month ago. They looked like scraps from card making or something, but I thought they were so pretty and had to do something with them. And so with the busy schedule at the moment it was a bittersweet opportunity to do an 'easy' but still pretty set up for March.

Taking The First Steps Into Being First Time Buyers

Over the last few months, me and John have been talking about moving out and buying our first home together. Ahhh! Exciting! We've been taking the first few baby steps into the life-changing process of buying our first home, but this weekend we took the first big step and booked to view some places! With all this happening so quickly and so soon, I thought it would be a great opportunity to blog about our experience and share how we're getting on. And if you're looking to buy a home in the future, I hope that this series of posts can give you an insight into our experience and what buying your first home might be like.

Bullet Journal | February Set Up

Whoops! Well isn't this post a little late? Better late than never though right? Today I'm sharing my bullet journal set up for February. When I first began setting this up, I had about 4 or 5 ideas and I wanted to do them all, but I stuck to a theme that would allow me to do two of those ideas. This month's theme became 'Puppy Love' and so it gave me opportunities to get all valentine's-y with this month's theme and a chance to get drawing again. I made a couple of mistakes with this month but I also learnt some things I may take with me to set up March...

What Cat Wore | Simply Be Style

I have always been a fan of a statement bottom piece. Whether it's jeans or a good skirt, I prefer statement bottoms to statement tops. I couldn't tell you why though. So when Simply Be gave me the opportunity to review some of their jeans and skirts, I jumped at the chance! I picked up some gorgeous pieces and styled them into three different outfits. Today I have a fun valentine's day look, a 'rock-chic' look (I really didn't know what to call this one) and my casual go-to weekend look.

Game Night with Randomise

My family love a games night. We don't do it often enough but last Christmas we made a conscious effort to get more games and spend more time together playing them. There are so many awesome games out there but one of my new favourites is Randomise. If I was going to describe it in any way, it'd be a family-friendly mash-up of 3 classics with endless hilarious answers. Me and the family played it just this weekend and here's what we thought of it...

January '18

It feels like a long time since I wrote my December round up post. January has felt like the longest month of all time and I'm kinda glad it's over. It's not exactly been a great month but not a bad one either. It feels like a limbo month where you're trying to find your feet again and get back some normality. Not much has happened this month but I thought I would still round it up and talk about the little things I've got up to and how I feel about February.

Home | Sleeping In Style

This year a lot of my focus is going to be spent on John and I buying out first home and moving out. It is so exciting and with all this at the fore front of my mind, I find myself day dreaming about what our first home is going to look like and how I can personalise it to suit the both of us. Until we finally buy a place, there isn't much we can get in preparation. But with that said there are a few things that I've started to pick up and keep for our future home. One of those being my favourite things to buy... bedding!

What Cat Says in 2018

Over the last couple of months I've been doing a lot of thinking about me and my blog. I've began to focus and spend more time on it, and as a result I've come to realise what it is that has rekindled my love to blog again, and what it is that I want to share here. I've always covered a variety of topics but as I've grown older, I've developed some new interests, rekindled some old ones and also grown out of some others. I've started to realise I'm a completely different person to when I started my blog nearly 8 years ago and I kind of need to 're-brand'.

What I Learnt From House/Dog Sitting

Over the Christmas holidays, I spent three weeks house sitting and dog sitting for a friend. It was a new experience for me having to live on my own and be fully and singularly responsible for a pet. In those three weeks, I learnt a lot of things about myself and about what my future looks like. And I made a new best friend.

My 2018 Goals

Last year I successfully reached most of the goals that I had set myself at the beginning of 2017. I had such a great year and achieved so much. Normally, I would have set my 2018 goals by now but I had a bit of trouble figuring out what I want them to be. Over the last week, being back at work and to some sort of normality, I've picked up on a few things I'd either like to do or change this year. My goals are going to be a mix of blogging goals and life goals like usual and I'm getting excited about them, now that I know what they are!

Review | Confidant Dotted Journal

Bullet journalling is a new passion of mine. It's purposeful and I enjoy it because it includes things that I like along with the need to be organised. I love calligraphy, I love being creative and of course, I love stationery too. So, when I was given the chance to try out a new dotted journal, I took it. Today I'm looking at Baron Fig's Confidant Notebook which I've started using to organise my blog.

Style | Embroidered Boots

Boots are one of my biggest weaknesses when it comes to shoes. From my favourite Timerlands in two colours to my grey boots with the silver heel. I have so many pairs and I don't feel guilty about it at all! This year for Christmas, John bought me these which fulfil my love and need for a pair of embroidered boots. They're amazing and I've been wearing them an awful lot since Christmas Day.

What Cat Wore | Double Knit

Yay! The first outfit of 2018! And a favourite for cosiness and super simple winter style. This season I've been all about knitwear. It's an obsession. I've been wearing jumper after jumper throughout autumn and winter and I'm not even sorry that it's been pretty repetitive. Today's outfit is no different. In fact, I doubled the knitwear here just to show off my new scarf.

Bullet Journal | January Set Up

Hello January, and hello 2018. There's nothing I like better than starting fresh and with a bullet journal, my favourite thing is starting fresh every month with a new set up and a new theme. For my first bullet journal set up of the year, I went with a galaxy theme. This theme was influenced by a couple of bullet journal Youtubers and their January set ups along with a couple of pictures I came across on Pinterest. I love this theme and I love how January is looking.

December '17

My December has been quite momentous. There have been birthday celebrations, Christmas celebrations,  snow, dogs and Jenga. It's been a busy month, but when is December ever really quiet for anyone?
